Pandemic Summer is a painting that was inspired by my month-long residency at the New York Academy of Art during summer of 2021. I was previously accepted into the program for the summer of 2020, but it was later cancelled when Covid-19 hit. Here, a year later, the ongoing toll of the pandemic was still evident in the subway car. The walls inside the car are embellished with Covid-19 info posters, and (most) people continued to abide by the law by wearing their face-coverings on public transportation.

Pandemic Summer was accepted into the 2022 Artisphere Artists of the Upstate Juried Exhibition where it was awarded Best In Show and a thousand dollar cash prize.
